Phoenix Sound Studios was founded by Justin Humphries, an experienced sound engineer and accomplished musician with over 30 years in the industry. The studio offers an inspirational, relaxed environment that flexes to the needs of its clients. We manage every stage of production — from writing and pre-production to recording, mixing, and mastering — all under one roof. The facility also offers a healthy mix of vacuum tube and solid-state equipment, giving warmth, character, reliability, and flexibility.

Film and video production is now available too, with options to shoot in-house or on location.

Studio Features

The studio consists of three varied acoustic spaces, so large bands and small chamber orchestral groups can be accommodated comfortably without feeling confined. Beautiful scenery, natural light, and individual personal monitoring make recording a joy — and with ample free, unrestricted off-street parking, loading and unloading gear is easy and stress-free.

Three rooms, all with visibility to each other:

  • LIVE ROOM (30′ x 20′)
  • CONTROL ROOM ([confirm dimensions — currently listed the same as Live Room])
  • VOCAL / DRUM BOOTH (10′ x 8′)
  • Exceptional acoustics deliver an incredible, natural live sound
  • Large bands and small chamber ensembles can record live on up to 32 individual tracks simultaneously
  • Individual personal monitoring on up to 16 channels
  • Access to in-house instruments including Yamaha Maple Custom and Recording Custom drum kits, Roland V-Drums, amps, and bass guitars
  • A range of specialised services, including mastering, audio restoration and archival, and forensic audio
